Tucked into the corner of 941 Spruce Street in Washington Square neighborhood, Known Associates is Philadelphia's newest cocktail bar.

The name Known Associates is a nod to vintage 007 films. We translated that spy-movie charm into a visual identity that's equal parts playful and mysterious. A typewriter-inspired type treatment, paired with illustrations of sneaky eyes and secret society emblems.
The 1,500-square-foot venue seats just 40 guests and features rich textures, eclectic details, and a layered, maximalist aesthetic throughout its bearings.
The space opened Summer 2026 in the former home of Varga Bar at 10th and Spruce streets. The concept is the newest culinary venture from Michelin-recommended Chef Christopher Kearse of Forsythia.
Interiors designed by PS & Daughters, taking cues from the all-day cafés and neighborhood bars of Europe. Known Associates gives its food program equal footing with its cocktails, challenging the traditional American cocktail bar model where the kitchen often plays a supporting role.
